How fast is which speed?
A rough guide to how long typical tasks take at different internet speeds.
| Task | 20 Mbit/s | 100 Mbit/s | 1 Gbit/s | 10 Gbit/s |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Download music50 MB | 20 sec. | 4 sec. | < 1 sec. | < 1 sec. |
| Download update250 MB | 1 min. 40 sec. | 20 sec. | 2 sec. | < 1 sec. |

| Upload photos3 GB | 20 min. | 4 min. | 24 sec. | 2 sec. |
Values are a guide. Actual speed depends on the connection, your device and network load.
DSL or Fibre Optics?
DSL
DSL sends data over the existing telephone line (copper). Maximum speed is around 500 Mbit/s and depends a lot on your location. A good fit for households without a fibre connection.
Fibre Optics
Fibre sends data as light, which allows symmetrical speeds well over 1000 Mbit/s and a steady connection. Good for streaming, home office, gaming and several devices at once.
Internet + Landline, the perfect duo
Add our landline products to your internet connection and make calls at fair, stable prices. Choose a classic connection at an entry price, or a flat rate covering the Swiss landline network and over 40 countries. Pick your own number or port your existing one. Every plan includes clear HD voice quality, up to 10 simultaneous calls and billing by the second. All from one provider, one bill, one contact person.

Questions & answers about internet
What internet speed do I need?
It depends on your needs. For browsing and e-mail, 10 to 50 Mbit/s is enough. For streaming, home office, gaming or several people at once, we'd suggest 100 Mbit/s or more. Happy to advise you, no obligation.
What speed is available at my address?
That depends on your connection. Fibre allows much higher speeds than DSL. An availability check at your address tells us the right option.
What is the difference between DSL and fibre optics?
DSL sends data over the telephone cable (copper), with a maximum speed of around 500 Mbit/s. Fibre sends data as light signals, enabling speeds well over 1000 Mbit/s and a steadier connection.
Can I combine internet with TV and telephony?
Yes. Combine our products however you like and build a package that fits, including a multi-product discount.
Is 20 Mbit/s enough for streaming?
A UHD/4K stream needs around 15 to 25 Mbit/s. For smooth streaming without hiccups, we'd recommend at least 50 Mbit/s to leave some headroom.
How long does activation take?
Activation usually takes 5 to 10 working days. We're happy to give you a more precise answer by phone or e-mail.
What is the minimum contract period?
You choose your term: cancellable monthly, 1 year or 2 years. Notice period is 60 days.
When do I need a qualified electrician for DSL?
For DSL activation we need either the line number (NSN number) or the name of the previous tenant. With that, we can activate your connection without an electrician. Without it, an on-site activation is needed.
